Oesophagus:

It is a muscular, tubular part of the alimentary canal. The muscular walls of the oesophagus move in a rhythmic wavelike manner which carries the food down to the stomach. This muscular movement is calledperistalsis.

There are four layers of food pipe  Mucosa, Submucosa, Muscularis, Tunica Adventia .

Function:
